Postdoctoral Research Associate

University of Manchester

Hi, my name is Samson. Before coming to the University of Manchester, I was a research scientist analysing antibiotic resistance in bacteria concentrating on Salmonella which is endemic in Nigeria. I developed new molecular diagnostic methods for the detection of this bacteria in clinical samples. I was also involved in detecting and cataloging other native pathogenic bacteria which present particular problems in the tropical climate of Nigeria, especially amongst poorer communities living in cramped conditions. I am currently working in the group of Prof. David Wedge as a postdoctoral bioinformatician, researching which genes when mutant drive the progression of prostate cancer.
